Two engineers, one standard

Dennis and Sascha Frieß run the office as managing partners - one an automotive mechatronics technician and vehicle engineering graduate, the other a business engineer. Two perspectives on the same claim: the technical side of the vehicle and the numbers behind it.

That's why we always work on a four-eyes principle: whatever one of us drafts, the other checks - from his own perspective - before the report goes out.

Across more than 20,000 cases, our standard has stayed the same: precise reports, clear communication, and support all the way through to full settlement.

Our journey

From a one-man appraisal office to a family business

Founded in 1988 by Michael Frieß, run by the second generation since 2021 - here's an overview of our milestones.

1988
Michael Frieß founds the vehicle appraisal office - from master car mechanic at a dealership to independent expert.
The early years
Work takes place in the family basement. Sascha Frieß grows up next to his father's computer and in the workshops.
2008 – 2012
Sascha Frieß studies industrial engineering at KIT (B.Sc. and M.Sc.), including a semester abroad in the USA - specializing in vehicle technology and business management.
2010
Move into our own premises in Karlsruhe-Durlach - complete with a lift and full testing equipment.
2011
Dennis Frieß completes his training as an automotive mechatronics technician, specializing in car technology.
2012 – 2016
Dennis Frieß studies vehicle technology at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences, completes an internship at another expert's office, and graduates as B.Eng. - his bachelor's thesis focuses on accident reconstruction.
2012 – 2020
Eight years in automotive industry consulting: Sascha Frieß introduces repair concepts for lightweight vehicles across Europe.
2017
Dennis Frieß becomes a permanent part of the office.
2019
Seven days of further training at the Institute for Expert Assessment (IfS) in Cologne - covering court reports, report structure, expert fees, and courtroom conduct.
2021
Sascha Frieß returns full-time. The sons each take over 50 percent of the office, which is renamed Ingenieurbüro Frieß GbR.
2023
Certified expertise in recovering, towing and transporting electric vehicles, including high-voltage safety training.
Today
Damage and court reports, our own online platform, ongoing training - and in preparation: alignment with VDI 5900.

Sascha Frieß
Owner · Expert appraiser
Business engineer (M.Sc., KIT) and managing partner. Before joining the office, he spent eight years in automotive consulting at Porsche Consulting, focusing on aftersales. Today, he handles damage and value assessments as well as claims settlement with insurers.
